Description

Welcome back to another Unity TCG Spotlight! This time, we'll be taking a look at :icondarkmattersamurai:'s team, The Syndicate! And, boy, lemme tell ya, if you thought the HUNTERS had all the shady dealings, wait 'til you get a load of these guys!

These cards are brought to you by the Unity project, which you can read up on here: dragon-paragon.deviantart.com/…
-----------------------------------

Headquarters: Serbatoio Cani

The mafioso's hideout boasts more than Nikola's singing and roman columns along the foyer! The Syndicate's HQ can be committed to draw a card, making sure you've always got the tools you need to get down and dirty. Sure, you can only do it after a 'mon gets iced, but it can be either one of yours or one of theirs, so even if you end up losing a fight you can cash in all the same. It lets you keep an edge, or bounce back after going all in, so really the only thing you've got to choose is whether to commit it for resources or to just pump up your hand!

-----------------------------------

Capone

Capone's the Don; he's the one who calls the shots, and he's got the strength to back it up. He's topping the charts on Agility and has good Strength, but his low intelligence and negligible charisma leaves him a little one-sided. It's his ability that REALLY makes him shine, though! Even should you lose, Capone will take out a foe with him! Granted, 5 is a lot of points to sink into a one-shot cannon, but Criminals always have the option of coming in on the cheap!

-----------------------------------

Nikola

Nikola's stats really leave something to be desired, but really, why would you bring a lounge singer into a fight that doesn't involve Charisma? The Dragon shores up Capone's weak Charisma nicely, and he and Capone make a great team; even should your opponent pull off some stunt that gives them the fight, they're forced to choose Capone to defeat, ergo, defeating one of their characters as well! Pyrrhic tactics at their finest. Oh, and did I forget to mention he's a Performer? Cause he is, and he can totally just sit back and buff Capone's stats if he feels like it.

-----------------------------------

Seda Maniera

Seda provides some much needed rounding for the rest of the team; he isn't gonna win any fights by himself, but he can contribute something to just about any fight, and he can even bring in some hi-tech doodads into the fray (so long as they're vehicles, but what's a Greaser without a sweet bike?). His real strength is in how cheap he is: If his Criminal ability is used, he can come into play -on the first turn-, letting you set up and make your move that much faster!

-----------------------------------

No Witnesses

Okay, this one is one of my favorites. The Criminals have their own Action, and what an Action it is! No Witnesses allows you to just plain execute another character at your location, provided you got the Strength to outmatch them. Pair that with Capone's good Strength, Nikola's stat-boosting Performer power, and an HQ that profits off of character's being defeated, and...well, you do the math.

Shattered Memories

This card goes in very well with The Syndicate; not only thematically (that would be Capone's son in the picture there) but mechanically as well, since many of the team's gimmicks all revolve around somebody getting defeated. With this, you can have Capone run in, take somebody out with him, and the next turn just shore up your ranks with this backstory - Heck, between this, the HQ (which provides an extra point for all cards of the same team, remember), and the Criminal ability (a character comes in committed but costs one less), you could just bring Capone back in on the next turn! It's a must have, no doubts about it!
